Approximate Calculation of Transport Coefficients ofEarth and Mars Atmospheric Dissociating Gases

چکیده
High-temperature transport properties (viscosity, thermal conductivity, binary and multicomponent mass diffusion, and thermal diffusion) of dissociating gases of the Earth and Martian atmospheres have been calculated within the framework of the Chapman-Enskog method. The exponential repulsion potentials of interactions between atoms (N, 0 , and C) and molecules (N,, 0,, NO, C,, CN, CO, and CO,) were studied. The collision cross sections were calculated from numerous experimental molecular-beam scattering data. The bifurcation approximation to the binary diffusion coefficients and the Wilke-Saxena approximate techniques were effectively used to simplify numerical algorithms of heat transfer calculations.

Comprehensive calculation of the energy per ion pair or W values for five major planetary upper atmospheres
The mean energy W expended in a collision of electrons with atmospheric gases is a useful parameter for fast aeronomy computations. Computing this parameter in transport kinetic models with experimental values can tell us more about the number of processes that have to be taken into account and the uncertainties of the models. We present here computations for several atmospheric gases of planet...
متن کاملCompilation and evaluation of gas phase diffusion coefficients of reactive trace gases in the atmosphere: Volume 2. Diffusivities of organic compounds, pressure-normalised mean free paths, and average Knudsen numbers for gas uptake calculations
Diffusion of organic vapours to the surface of aerosol or cloud particles is an important step for the formation and transformation of atmospheric particles. So far, however, a database of gas phase diffusion coefficients for organic compounds of atmospheric interest has not been available. In this work we have compiled and evaluated gas phase diffusivities (pressure-independent diffusion coeff...

A computer program was developed to predict the dispersion of gas pollutant in the atmosphere. This program relies on puff method, and in order to consider the wind shear effects, the program has the ability to consider the complete dynamic and unsteady atmospheric conditions. Plume rise of hot pollutants due to buoyancy effects was also considered. The program has the capacity to perform the r...

متن کاملReevaluated martian atmospheric mixing ratios from the mass spectrometer on the Curiosity rover
The Sample Analysis at Mars (SAM) instrument suite of the Mars Science Laboratory (MSL) Curiosity rover is a miniature geochemical laboratory designed to analyze martian atmospheric gases as well as volatiles released by pyrolysis of solid surface materials (Mahaffy et al., 2012). SAM began sampling the martian atmosphere to measure its chemical and isotopic composition shortly after Curiosity ...
